Nurse's Corner

Dear Stratton Families,

As we approach the end of the academic year, I wanted to thank our amazing caregivers for always looking out for each other and for their collaboration with and support of the health office. Because of our generous community, we’ve been able to pass on new and gently used clothes to students and added several items to the nurse’s office that were much needed.

Medication Pick Up:

If your student has medication at school, an adult will need to stop into the nurse’s office before your child leaves for the summer to pick up medications.  Please contact me at [email protected] if you need to coordinate with me.

Incoming Kindergarteners for 24/25:

If your child has a new physical since you completed enrollment, please send a copy of your child’s updated physical/immunization forms to: [email protected]. Please reach out to me via email if you need to schedule a meeting to discuss your child’s medical condition. If your child will have any medications at school, including epinephrine or inhalers, please read the paragraph below regarding medications.

Medications for 24/25:

If your child will need any daily medication at school, you will need to complete the APS Medication Plan. If your child has asthma or food allergies, an Asthma Action Plan or Allergy Action Plan needs to accompany emergency medications. These documents need to be updated every year. Any incoming Kindergarten students (or any students who are new to APS) with food allergies also must have this Allergy Intake Form completed. Parents need to review the district’s LTA Allergy Policy, as well as the Field Trip Policy in the Elementary Student Handbook.  All medications need to be in the original container with the prescription label attached. An adult needs to drop off medications to the nurse when school begins, and please check expiration dates and note if you need to replace expiring medications during the school year.

Returning Students physicals:

I recommend that all students have a current physical on file here, so feel free to send in your child’s physical as they get them yearly.  I do have to collect all K, 1st and 4th graders' physicals per state mandates as well, so if your child will be entering those grades, please keep that in mind. You can send a photo to my email, [email protected], or send in a hard copy.

In good health,

Nurse Jen
