April 2024 Update

Dear Stratton Community,

Happy Spring! The district has updated our COVID illness guidelines to align with the Massachusetts Department of Health and the CDC. It is no longer mandatory to stay out of school for five days following onset of illness, but instead students and staff can return to school as long as they have been fever free (without fever reducing medications) for 24 hours and feeling improved. Indoor masking and other mitigation measures are highly recommended for a few days after infection, please review these here. If you’d like some COVID test kits to bring home, let me know and I can send them home with your student.

Some exciting things are happening:

The dentist is coming!

On April 24th, the Stratton Health Office is thrilled to once again host our mobile dentist clinic partner, the Smile Program. If you would like your student to see our dentist on April 24th for an exam and cleaning, return the form or sign them up online before April vacation! Our dentists can also do fluoride treatments, x-rays, sealants, and fillings if needed. Program managers will be in touch with you after you sign up to review the process, confirm eligibility and go over what to expect.

The SNAP Parent Portal rolled out!

The SNAP parent portal is the “parent” side of our Nursing Software, called SNAP. If you sign up, you can access your child’s health records, and do things like consent for permissions for medications, upload new physicals or immunizations, or use it to contact me. All caregivers should have received an invitation to their child’s health portal on Feb 26th, from [email protected]. Follow these instructions to log in and start using it! All of the public schools in Arlington will be using this portal starting in September, so get primed now for next year.

As we head into warmer weather, please remind your children to wear proper footwear. I’ve seen lots of bloody knees, feet and toes from tripping on Crocs and sandals. Sneakers are best for school.

APS Nursing has done some updates to our website! Check out the latest news, health information and resources, district health and wellness policies, as well as documents and forms.

In good health,

Nurse Jen
