School Supplies and Electronics
School Supplies
School supplies are purchased and paid for in advance by the PTO. The PTO will contact families directly regarding pricing and payment methods for reimbursement. Additionally, you will be responsible for providing your child with a backpack and lunchbox.
Electronics & Technology Use
Technology is an important tool for teaching and learning at Stratton, but we also believe in providing students with a balanced school day that emphasizes hands-on learning, collaboration, creativity, movement, and face-to-face interactions. We are intentionally working to limit screen time, especially in our Kindergarten through Grade 2 classrooms, ensuring that technology is used purposefully rather than continuously.
- Grades K–2: Students have access to classroom iPads, which are used for targeted learning activities, assessment, and skill practice under teacher supervision. Screen time is intentionally limited and balanced with hands-on instruction.
- Grades 3–5: Students are assigned Chromebooks to support research, writing, collaboration, and other learning activities. Technology is integrated into instruction when it enhances learning but is not used throughout the entire school day.
Students are expected to handle all school-issued devices with care and use them responsibly in accordance with the district's Acceptable Use Policy. Families will be notified if devices are sent home for specific assignments or projects. Students are responsible for keeping devices safe and in good working condition.
Student Cell Phones & Smartwatches
To minimize distractions and maximize learning, all student cell phones, smartwatches, and other personal electronic devices (including any device with cellular or Wi-Fi capability) must be turned off or placed in silent mode and remain stored in students' backpacks for the entire school day. These devices may not be used during class, lunch, recess, transitions, or any other part of the school day unless specifically authorized by school staff for educational or emergency purposes.
If a device is visible or used during the school day, it will be collected by the teacher or administrator and held in the school office until the end of the school day. Repeated violations may result in additional consequences in accordance with school policy.
Families are reminded that students who need to contact home during the school day may do so through the school office, and parents/guardians who need to reach their child should contact the main office. The school is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal electronic devices brought to school.
